Transfer Provider Request Form

Important Information
Students who have not yet completed six months of the principal program on their student visa are required to be released from RMIT University Pathways (RMIT UP) if they wish to transfer to another education provider.

Before submitting your application, read the RMIT UP Transfer to Another Education Provider Instruction available on the RMIT UP Policies and Procedures page. This instruction provides the steps for processing applications from student visa holders requesting a release from RMIT UP in order to transfer to another education provider.

Changing to another education provider may impact your student visa. For more information about how this could affect you and your student visa, please contact the Department of Home Affairs (DHA)

Please allow 10 working days for RMIT UP to assess your application. You must keep attending classes until your application is approved. If your application is approved, your current enrolment at RMIT UP will be cancelled.

Students seeking a release from their RMIT University formal program must first apply for and seek release from RMIT University. For information on applying for a release from your formal RMIT University program, visit the RMIT University website.

Additional Approval Requirements

If you are under 18 years of age, RMIT University Pathways (RMIT UP) will require written parental/guardian approval and documentation from the new education provider accepting responsibility for accommodation and welfare arrangements, known as a CAAW letter to process this request.

If you are a sponsored student, you require approval or Financial Guarantee from your sponsor for the new program at the new education provider for the request to be approved.

Reasons for transferring to another provider

Your application will be approved in circumstances where RMIT UP assesses that the transfer will be in your best interest, including but not limited to the following:

  • You are not achieving satisfactory course progress despite genuine engagement with the intervention strategy for students at risk
  • Your reasonable expectations about the course are not being met
  • The program doesn’t meet your academic needs
  • There are compassionate and compelling circumstances beyond your control that impact on your study plans or your wellbeing
  • There is an appeal outcome on another matter that results in a decision or recommendation to release you from RMIT UP
  • Your sponsor considers the change to be in your best interests

Your application may be refused in the following circumstances:

  • You have completed less than 5 weeks of study and have not experienced the full range of academic and transitional support services available at RMIT UP
  • You failed to read or understand the RMIT UP offer, tuition or refund policies
  • Your visa was granted but you failed to enrol at RMIT UP before the end of the enrolment period.  In this situation, you should apply to defer your RMIT UP offer
  • RMIT UP has found your supporting documents to be fraudulent
